Neil's Update

Winter Weather But Winners Keep Rolling

It took a while but the winter weather seems to be finally kicking in with the first couple of frosts and a gradual move to seeing the word “soft” starting to crop up in going descriptions. There have been several big meetings around the country notably at Cheltenham, Haydock and Newbury last month and many of the jumping stars from the UK and Ireland have been seen on the racecourse.

The yard kept rolling in November with a pleasing steady flow of winners. Hidden Depths followed up his win at Hereford in October with a follow-up win at the same course in November. He will no doubt be feeling a liking for the place when he next visits. He proved that he does not mind who is in the saddle as Sam won on him in October, but Tom was in the saddle for the November win.

The next win came two days later when Mister Sweets recorded a victory at Market Rasen and it turned out to be an across the card double as Molliana won the same day at Taunton. Sean Bowen was in the saddle at Market Rasen with Sam taking the win at Taunton.

After a couple of close things, Chinwag was a winner at Ffos Las a week later and it was another winner for Sean who was on duty for the yard at the Welsh track.

A few days later, it was Hugh Nugent, who rode another winner for the yard when Soupy Soups was the winner of a veterans' chase at Uttoxeter.

Another young rider was in the saddle for our next winner when Tom Doggrell rode Runasimi River to victory at Hereford.

The next day yet another rider rode a winner for the yard as this time, Kevin Brogan was in the saddle when Malinas Island won at Lingfield and November ended with perhaps our best winner as Brief Times was successful at Doncaster with James Best in the saddle. The front two pulled a long way clear and it is hoped that this will turn out to have been a very good performance and hopefully some bigger targets lie ahead for this novice hurdler.
