Spring Is On The Way (Hopefully!)
We seem to be alternating between snow and waterlogging this season, but fingers crossed that the latest thaw also delivers us a couple of weeks of drier conditions and some improved ground.
It is still soft and heavy everywhere, but we are going to get some full fields for the next couple of weeks as all the horses that have been keen to run over the last few weeks will all be competing to run in the same races. There are also another bunch of better ground horses waiting in the wings, hoping that they get their chance soon!
The weather has meant that the yard has not sent out many runners in the last couple of weeks, but the team are working hard to keep all the horses ticking over so that they are ready to make the most of their opportunities when they arise.
We are fast approaching the Spring festivals and attention will turn to entries for the Cheltenham handicaps in the coming weeks. The yard has a few nice youngsters to supplement the stable stalwarts and running plans for Cheltenham, Aintree and the other end of season targets are being considered for all those good enough to contest these races.
One of those nice younger horses is Solwara One who narrowly failed to bring up a hat-trick of wins at Exeter on Sunday when failing to overhaul the long time leader by a head on the line. With form figures that now read 2112 in his four racecourse appearances, there is still plenty to look forward to with him.
Let’s hope that we get some positive news in terms of getting owners and possibly even spectators back onto the racecourse soon and that we can look forward to some regular racing and hopefully some more success for runners from the yard in the coming weeks.
