About Us

The Affordable Partnership was formed in July 2010, by a group of friends who had been interested in horse racing for a number of years. They met through the Fontwell Park Racing syndicate. After many years with that and other syndicates, they decided to set up their own partnership.

Dave Lacey and Stan Clegg are the founders of the partnership. The Partnership has been fortunate enough to have many loyal owners that have stayed for several years and have invested in numerous successful racehorses.

The first horse bought by the Partnership was named "Affordable". Hence, the name of the Partnership, "The Affordable Partnership". The name of the partnership also reflects the objectives of the operation. These are:

· Buy reasonably priced horses.

· Keep our running costs to a minimum.

· Have no management fees

· When you purchase a share in an Affordable Partnership horse, you pay 10% of the cost of the horse; plus £200 per calendar month to cover all costs and racing expenses.

Since the formation of the partnership, we have visited the Winners Enclosure on occasions 196(1st = 52, 2nd = 54, 3rd = 44 & 4th = 46). In the 6 years, we have been with our trainer, Neil Mulholland, we have had 119 horses in the Winners Enclosure.

Sheena West the first trainer we had when the partnership was formed re-joined us on 8th August,2022 to train Mr Freedom which we bought from her. He has been a great purchase running 21 times, a winner of 8 races, 2nd three times 3rd five times and finished a closing 5th at the Cheltenham Festival. Sheena has trained 58 placed horses for us (18-1st, 14-2nd, 16-3rd and 10-4th).
