Another good season for the yard

Updated: May 18, 2021

Milkwood Is A Champion Hurdler!

There is not a big break between the end of one season and the start of another as the National Hunt Season finale at Sandown is followed about a week later by the start of the summer jumps season and even on the week in between we have the Punchestown Festival over in Ireland!

After a couple of second-place finishes, the yard managed to record a couple more winners before the 2020/21 season drew to a close and one of them was a big winner for the yard.

Milkwood has enjoyed a fine season, running well in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and then leading over the last in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and he finished in style winning the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr. It was great to have a high profile winner to round off a strong season for the yard.

There were two other winners when Winged Isle won well at Ludlow and Maliboo was another winner up at Perth.

We had a runner from the Neil Mulholland Racing Club on the last day of the season when Doing Fine ran in the Bet365 Chase at Sandown. Unfortunately, it was not a fairy tale finish to the season, but Doing Fine has already won for club members this winter and we were delighted to be able to add Deputy Jones to the Racing Club for the summer. She has been knocking on the door in recent weeks and should be capable of winning for the club in the coming months.
