Yard continues in good form with a couple of winners last week and several placed horses.

A Good Start To The Year Racing has moved back behind closed doors in terms of spectator and owner attendance at the racecourse, but thankfully and despite some rumours to the contrary on social media over the weekend, for the time being at least, the sport continues. It has continued well for the yard with winners on Sunday and Monday to kick-off 2021 in fine style. Sandymount Rose made the trip to Ffos Las last week where she was favourite to win her race, only to be deprived of a run when the meeting was called off shortly before racing. She made up for that disappointment on Sunday though when despite being in what looked a more competitive race on paper, she won well at Exeter. She might have been a wide-margin winner having moved clear in the straight, but she blundered at the last hurdle and jockey Millie Wonnacott did well to stay in the saddle. The lost momentum brought the second right back into contention, but the filly got going again just in time to hold on for a narrow margin success. The very next runner from the yard was another winner with Solwara One making the long trip up to Doncaster very worthwhile. Solwara One had won a bumper at the back end of last year and was making his hurdling debut here against some rivals with hurdling experience who had already set a decent level of form. It was therefore very pleasing to see jockey James Best seemingly looking comfortable as he moved several lengths clear coming to the last flight and James only really needed to push Solwara One along to record a five-length victory. This looked a smart performance and delivers plenty of encouragement for the future. With some of the other runners also running good races in recent days, the yard seems to be in good form and hopefully, further successes will be just around the corner.
